Barefoot team starts work on wetland carbon sequestration project

August 2016 Author Damien Maher

Members of the Barefoot Biogeochemistry Group visited industry and university partners this week to kick off work on a collaborative ARC Linkage project on wetland carbon sequestration and methane fluxes. The project will involve quantifying carbon sequestration and methane flux rates from a range of degraded and restored wetlands on the East Coast and inland of Australia, to determine how to best manage these systems to maximize their carbon sink value. The members of the project include Southern Cross University, Deakin University, Mid Coast Council and Murray Land Services, and the project will be undertaken over the next 3 years.
