Seagrasses are biological and biogeochemical hotspots, and are one of the most productive marine ecosystems. Due to their requirements for high light and low nutrient conditions, seagrasses are particularly vulnerable to disturbance. We are undertaking research on the carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas cycling in seagrasses.
