Seqwater commissioned SCU to survey the Logan River and nearby Reynolds Creek to gain insights into whether groundwater may be a source of bromide to the river. Groundwater bromide concentrations were found to be higher than surface waters, which could explain high bromide in some river areas. The report Groundwater as a potential source of bromide to the Logan River and Reynolds Creek: Preliminary assessment using radon prepared by Isaac Santos and Paul Macklin was recently accepted by Seqwater and will be used to manage bromide inputs into water treatment plants.
