ESTUARIES

Estuaries represent the dynamic transition zone between the land and the ocean, receiving large inputs of nutrients, sediments and organic matter. Understanding the fluxes and transformation pathways of these materials within estuaries is essential for constraining local, regional and global biogeochemical cycles. We are undertaking a wide range of research on estuarine hydrology (including groundwater-surface water exchange), carbon, nitrogen, trace metal and greenhouse gas dynamics in estuaries across the world.
